 DEPARTMENT OF STATISTICS

      The Department of Statistics was established in the year 1988  with the combination of Mathematics and Computer Science were introduced.

•  Now the strength of Mathematics students is around 370.
• The Faculty of 4 Members are well qualified and experienced lectures in Undergraduate and Postgraduate teaching.

                  Statistics is a branch of Applied Mathematics which studies ways to collect, summarize, and draw conclusions from data. It is applicable to a wide variety of academic fields such as the Physical, Social Sciences, Humanities, Medicine, Commerce, Economics, Government and Industries.The Department of Statistics helps the students to acquire the conceptual, computational and Statistical tools for the department has  produced many outstanding students with university ranks and excelling in their chosen fields.

Vision:

 To strengthen the Statistics teaching, research and its applications.
 To contribute to the development of new statistical methodology to address local issues/problems.
 To contribute to the advancement of science and technology through interdisciplinary programs/research.
 To promote statistical reasoning and the use of sound statistical practice, by conducting workshops regularly.

 To promote quality of teaching, learning and research in the department.
 To encourage research studies, consultancy and training programs.
 To collaborate with other stake holders of Statistical studies.
