The Department of Mathematics was established in the year 1984 with the combination of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, later Statistics, Electronics with Computer Science were introduced.
In 2004 M. Sc Mathematics was introduced.
Now the strength of Mathematics students is around 1450.
The Faculty of 6 Members are well qualified and experienced lectures in Undergraduate and Postgraduate teaching.

To carry out research and disseminate advances made in the Mathematics.
To instill analytical and logical thinking among students and promote Mathematical thought as an important area of human thought.
To be a global leader in Mathematics and its applications to various disciplines.
Mission:
The mission of the Mathematics Department is to provide an environment where students can learn and became competent users of Mathematics and Mathematical application.
To work in the advanced areas of Mathematics Vigorously and Purse their application in making out lives better.
The Department will contribute to the development of students as Mathematical thinkers, enabling them to become lifelong learners and to continue to grow in their chosen Professions.
